Built at the total cost of RM21 million, the newly opened GSC Tropicana City will complement GSC 1 Utama (New Wing) nearby to offer more seats for the regular movie-goers in Klang Valley.

The 8-screen multiplex, located on the second floor of Tropicana City Mall seats a total of 1,449 patrons at one time, with an additional 16 space for the wheelchair bound patrons. This disabled friendly cinema will also incorporate a hydraulic lift to ensure easy access to the mezzanine floor for the physically challenged community. With this new cinema, Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) has a total of 172 screens in 24 locations nationwide.

Speaking at the launch event today, Chief Executive Officer Ms Koh Mei Li said, "GSC will continue to invest on cinema expansion despite the current economic situation. This reaffirms our commitment to the cinema industry and movie-goers at large".

She added, "GSC has recently launched a co-branded credit card with EON Bank to offer value-added benefits like discounted movie tickets, concession and F & B offers. These benefits, indirectly is our way to thank and reward our loyal patrons for their support and offer our patrons savings and incentives to come back to the cinemas".

Also present at the launch event was Gen(R) Tan Sri Dato' Mohd Ghazali Seth (GSC Chairman), Dato' Tong Kien Onn (Managing Director, Dijaya Corporation Bhd), GSC business partners, associates and members of the media.

GSC e-payment facility has been extended to GSC Tropicana City patrons to select and purchase tickets online. A RM0.50 fee will be charged for every normal seat purchased through this facility.

As part of the opening offers, the public can look forward to special giveaways like balloons, "Buy 1 Free 1" coupons, “Buy 2 Free 1” coupons and "Wheel of Fortune" activity during the opening weekends. With every purchase of a GSC regular or large combo with F & N Coca-Cola drinks, GSC patrons will be rewarded with a complimentary can drink, while stocks last.

As the launch date of the cinema coincides with the opening of highly anticipated movie "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", there will be a special Transformers roadshow in Tropicana City Mall on June 27 from 12noon - 5pm.

The main attraction of the roadshow is the "Transformers Speed Challenge" whereby participants will be required to transform the toys in the shortest time. Prizes to be won include Transformers toys (courtesy of Hasbro), Transformers premiums and GSC vouchers. There will also be a special appearance of Transformers character, "Optimus Prime" in the new cinema on June 27.
