PETALING JAYA: Want to play doubles? In football that is.
For the first time in Malaysia, a doubles competition, in the form of a duet freestyle challenge competition, entitled "Ur my bro" will be organised by SportsUnite.
Endorsed by the Asian Freestyle Football Federation, the entertaining event will be held on May 2 at the Tropicana City Mall in Petaling Jaya from noon to 6pm.
Under the competition rules and in the spirit of unity, every pair juggle the ball together and they must be from two races.
Malaysia's top freestyler Shuhaimi Khizari aka Dr Freestyler and his partner will give a demo before the start of the event. Dr Freestyler will also be the chief judge.
In the preliminary rounds, there will be 12 groups of four pairs each. At each time, the four pairs in the same group will compete together and display their skills for five minutes.
Each pair is given a space clearly marked out on the floor.
The participants will be judged on creativity, skills, level of difficulty and teamwork.
Every participant is required to juggle the equal amount of time (freestyle) as the partner.
Pairs will be disqualified if one player dominates juggling time more than 60 per cent.
The top two pairs in each group will qualify for the second round which will be held on a knockout basis until the top six pairs reach the final round.
The competition is open to the first 48 pairs to register Entry fee is RM30 per pair.
The top six pairs will win cash prizes, winners medals and sponsors' products.
Milo and Revive isotonic drinks will be served free to all participants, officials and shoppers. UR MY BRO T-shirts will be given to all participants.
The champion pair will win RM1,000, the runners-up RM800, third RM600, fourth RM500, fifth and sixth RM400.
All the winners will receive trophies and sponsor products.
The carnival is jointly sponsored by Milo, Figos, Revive and and the Tropicana City Mall.
