The 12 sunshine girls

(Petaling Jaya, Selangor) The final day of the Sin Chew Shopping Mall Carnival was held at Tropicana City Mall on Sunday morning (10 January); of all the events, the Sunshine Girls competition created a most exciting atmosphere that brought a perfect ending to this carnival.

The Sin Chew Shopping Mall Carnival was launched on 8 November separately at Times Square Shopping Centre, The Mines Shopping Mall, Cheras Leisure Mall and Tropicana City Mall. All venues received good response. The Sin Chew Shopping Mall Carnival was launched subsequent to the Sin Chew Carnival; both are first time ventures into shopping malls.

The main sponsors for the event mentioned above were Magnum & Magnum Cares and Canon; venue sponsors were Times Square Shopping Centre, The Mines Shopping Mall, Cheras Leisure Mall, and Tropicana City Mall; and prize sponsors were Canon, Lim Kok Wing University, Star Cruise, Metrojaya, famous hairstylist Micheal Poh, M3ASIA, EsteeLauder, FABER-CASTELL, Fleet AP, Wah Chan, Terimee, Dynamic Marketing, M3 Asia-Way Way, Gelatomio, Room Eighteen, VIVO Food, PAPA John Pizza, Suria Meriang, Jusco, Beverly Hills bodyline and Trend Box.

The Opening Ceremony was simple yet grand
The ceremony was opened by the CEO of Sin Chew Daily Xu Chun, General Manager of Business Promotion Department Xie Nian Fang, General Manager (Advertising) Wong Hong-yuan, Senior Manager of Distribution Lin Guo Qing, Senior Manager (public relations/business promotion) Chen Jinquan, News Director Huang Xiaohong, Deputy Managing Editor Liu Hui Niang, Magnum Marketing and Operations Director Xie Guoliang, China and Malaysia Country Manager Andrew Chan, Vice President of Operations Hong Bi-luan, Canon Image Communication Products Division Assistant Director Wang Yaowei, Tropicana City Mall Senior Marketing Manager Chen Mei-Po, and Art of Pins Marketing Manager Liu ZhiZhen.

Exciting activities at the SinChew Shopping Mall Carnival include Self Photography with Mobile Phone contest, the Fastest to Type Chinese SMS contest, badminton games sponsored by Fleet AP, and ping pong games and kids coloring competition sponsored by Magnum & Magnum Cares.

Belly dancing is famous for its fast belly-swing, however, the 20-years experienced belly dancer, He Mei Ling performed a "slow motion belly dance" for the audience.

A regular customer of the shopping mall carnival, Lee Han Qiang performed Michael Jackson’s classic dance moves, and audiences applauded and screamed to show support.

Also, students from Rawang Square Dance Arts presented two different types of dance performance for the audience, which were the Yunnan dance and hip-hop. Yunnan dance was performed by three students aged 12 to 17 while the hip hop performance was performed by seven hip-hoppers from the group "Tip Top Crew".

The Canon Youth Ambassador Ryan Tu Fu Zu also performed during the event accompanied by the 12 Sunshine Girls.
In addition, the ticket exchange activity for "Grasshopper Malaysia 2010" Concert and "Dang Mao Yu Dun" Seminar attracted many readers. Although the time to exchange the ticket starts at 12noon but the crowd started to queue since 10am.

Outstanding talent shows win praise
When the competition started, the 12 Sunshine Girls brought a different feel to the opening ceremony. Whether it was the cat walk show, the question and answer session, or the talent performance, the girls put up a great show that won praises from the audience.

Hou Shu Ting wins the Best Talent Award
Hou Shu Ting performed a hot dance that won her the Best Talent Award. She walked away with a RM1000 discount voucher for a beginner’s training in hairstyling (6 – 8 months) from Michael Poh and RM200 cash.

Chai An Qi voted the Most Popular Girl
Chai An Qi received 63 votes from the crowd and won the Most Popular Girl title. She walked away with a RM1000 cash voucher from Beverly Hills Bodyline, a RM200 cash voucher from Terimee, and RM200 cash.

Gao Hui Li wins the Best Hair Award
On the other hand, Gao Hui Li was chosen to win the Best Hair Award. She not only walked away with RM300 cash, she also has a chance to become one of the models for Hair Zone Saloon. One of the judges, Michael Poh said her hairstyle is very trendy.
