(Petaling Jaya, 17 December 2010): Petaling Jaya (PJ) businessmen, please take note – for any business license renewed after 31 December 2010, an administration charge of RM100 will be imposed by MPPJ.
MP for PJ Chen said that every year renewal of license fees ranging from hundreds to thousands of Ringgit are not received on time. According to records, the collection is unsatisfactory as there were many businessmen who did not pay or renew their business licenses on time.
She said that in order to encourage businessmen to renew their license on time, MPPJ will set up mobile payment counters in several big shopping malls to assist them. For any delay in renewing their license, MPPJ will charge an administration fee of RM100.
Chen stated that over the past two weeks, MPPJ has put up mobile counters in One Utama, Sunway Giza, and Tropicana City Mall. These places have collected more than RM100,000 in fees. Out of these, the One Utama counter collected RM35,000 and the Sunway Giza counter collected RM65,000. These amounts however, also included payments for fines as well as assessment for houses.
Mobile Counters in Shopping Malls
According to Chen, this is the second time MPPJ has set up mobile counters for the purpose of renewing business license. Last year was the first time MPPJ set up these counters and they had collected more than RM100,000. She called upon all the businessmen to renew their business licenses on time. She said that businessmen can also go online to the MPPJ website (e-license) to renew their license.
