Dubai-based ChicKing Fried Chicken Restaurant has ventured into the local fast-food business with the opening of its main outlet at Tropicana City Mall yesterday. Banquet Foods International Sdn Bhd, which brought in the fast-food chain, plans to open 25 outlets in the country over the next three years, with another 25 in the region through franchising or owned by the company. Another outlet in Malacca had a soft opening recently with the next one to be opened in Shah Alam.

Some RM2 million is being invested in the three outlets. Banquet Foods managing director A.K Mansoor said the company planned to use Malaysia as a springboard the restaurant chain in the region. Banquet Foods has also entered into a partnership with Malaysian Graduate Entrepreneurship Development Centre to jointly undertake an entrepreneurial programme for undergraduates.
